Cohen Observes Labor Day

August 31, 2012

MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) issued the following statement in advance of Labor Day, which is celebrated on Monday:

“On Monday, we observe Labor Day, which celebrates the hard-working men and women of our country and the contributions they’ve made to help establish America’s greatness. This Labor Day, with unemployment as high as it is, it is crucial that Republicans stop playing games and work with Democrats to put people back to work. Congress will reconvene soon and it is important that Republicans set aside partisan politics and focus on putting forth jobs creation legislation. I as well as other Democrats have put forth legislation that would help create jobs and improve our economy but the GOP continues to block them in an effort to score political points during an election year. Republicans must work with Democrats to help the country grow economically. Our country cannot afford another year of political gridlock.”
