Over 150 Small Businesses Attend Congressman Cohen's Procurement Fair
[MEMPHIS, TN] – In an effort to ensure Memphis businesses are well-informed and competitive when trying to win contracts with the federal government, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) hosted a Federal Procurement Fair this morning at the University of Memphis. More than 150 small businesspeople and entrepreneurs attended the fair, where they were given an opportunity to learn about the federal government contracting process. Photos of the event are attached.
“Small and minority-owned businesses are the heart of the American economy,” said Congressman Cohen. “I am glad to bring together representatives from so many agencies to give our local small businesses the opportunity to gain a competitive edge in government contracting, grow their businesses, and create good-paying jobs right here in Memphis.”
Representatives from the General Services Administration (GSA), Small Business Administration (SBA), Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Department of Energy, Army Corps of Engineers and Tennessee Procurement Technical Assistance were on hand this morning to provide guidance and assistance in the federal government contracting process to local small businesses.
This morning’s Federal Procurement Fair is the third hosted by Congressman Cohen. He hosted previous fairs in 2012 and 2010.
