My colleagues and I introduced a Resolution of Confidence in President Donald J. Trump to send a clear message to the President that we disapprove of his cumulative actions, that we are simpatico with our constituents and a majority of the America people, and that we have no confidence in his service.
House Republicans passed the American Health Care Act (AHCA) despite a 21% approval rating by the American people and opposition from groups like AARP, the American Medical Association, the American Hospital Association, the American Nurses Association, the Episcopal Church and the United Methodist Church, among others. On Saturday, October 22, the Big River Crossing pedestrian/bike path across the Harahan Bridge opened to the public. In 2012, I was proud to work with then-U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood to secure nearly $15 million in federal funding through the TIGER grant program for this project. Big River Crossing connects Shelby Farms by bike through downtown Memphis and into Arkansas, utilizing the historic Harahan Bridge to provide a crossing of the Mississippi River. It is the country’s longest active rail, bicycle and pedestrian bridge across the Mississippi River.
