WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen's office will host a "Congress On Your Corner" event this Thursday, August 23. The event is intended to help constituents with Social Security, Medicare, veterans benefits and military service issues, Small Business Administration (SBA) loans and services, Federal Housing Administration (FHA) home loans, federal grants applications, IRS problems, passports and dealing with a host of issues involving interaction with federal agencies.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) marked the 53rd anniversaries of the Medicare and Medicaid programs that President Lyndon Johnson signed into law on this date in 1965, and made the following statement:
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN), a Member of the bicameral U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (known as The Helsinki Commission), was pleased that the House of Representatives today passed his bipartisan resolution expressing support for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) alliance and reaffirming the sovereignty of our partners in Central and Eastern Europe. WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today recalled the good done by Winnie Madikizela-Mandela as a leader of the anti-apartheid movement while her husband, Nelson, was imprisoned. Ms. Madikizela-Mandala has died at 81.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“During the 27 years her husband endured imprisonment for his anti-apartheid stand, Winnie Madizikela-Mandela was a powerful force championing his cause, and was imprisoned herself.
