Congressman Cohen Announces National Science Foundation Grant to the University of Memphis

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Memphis will be receiving $199,673 from the National Science Foundation to underwrite research by Mechanical Engineering Professor Ranganathan Gopalakrishnan on "dusty plasmas." Dusty plasmas are low temperature plasmas with charged microparticles suspended in them.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"Research in mechanical engineering often yields important discoveries and advances in material science. I'm pleased to announce this funding which will strengthen the University of Memphis."

So far this year, the University of Memphis has received $1,394,296 in federal grant funding.
