WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) noted Tuesday’s 17th anniversary of the al-Qaeda attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon and the loss of life in the four hijacked planes, and made the following statement:

“Seventeen years after the terrorist attacks on our country, we pause to reflect on what we’ve learned as a nation, recalling the nearly 3,000 victims who died that day, including Memphian Gary Lasko, and the first responders exposed to dangerous chemicals. We should be grateful that our vigilance has prevented another such attack and reaffirm our commitment to our democratic values.”
