Press Release
Inspired to advance his work at 50th anniversary of his death

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) attended the memorial service marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Senator Robert Francis Kennedy at Arlington National Cemetery today and released the following statement:

“Robert Kennedy was one of my heroes and I have sought to follow his example of public service and dedication to helping those most in need throughout my public life. The celebration of Robert Kennedy’s life reminds us, as former President Clinton said today, of ‘the timeless wisdom’ of his words but also inspires us to ‘advance the work he could not finish.’

“As was made so poignantly clear in the RFK quotations read by Congressman John Lewis and others, Robert Kennedy’s spirit lives on in the progressive politics of the present day. Fifty years after his tragic death, his extraordinary legacy is the dedication so many share to his vision of a better future for all Americans and to dream of things that never were and ask ‘why not?’”
