$8.3 billion emergency measure to address deadly COVID-19 Outbreak

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today voted for, and the House passed, an $8.3 billion emergency spending measure to address the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. The vote was 415 to 2.

The Senate is expected to take up the measure on Thursday and the President is expected to sign it into law.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"The coronavirus is a serious public health crisis and requires this emergency response. The Administration continues to downplay the significance of the threat for political reasons so we will need to catch up in order to provide the resources needed to combat this deadly virus. I urge everyone to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control to protect themselves and stem the spread of the virus. You can be assured that Congress is paying close attention to developments and will do what's necessary to keep everyone safe."
