Cohen Attends Transportation and Infrastructure Hearing with FedEx CEO Fred Smith
[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today attended a House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Hearing entitled Building a 21st Century Infrastructure for America with FedEx Chairman and CEO Fred Smith.
“I was glad to see FedEx CEO Fred Smith appear before a House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing today,” said Congressman Cohen. “Mr. Smith praised free community college for all Tennessee students and said it would help prepare students for good-paying jobs that could help improve our infrastructure. I am proud of my 20-year effort in the Tennessee State Senate to pass the highly acclaimed and successful Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship Program. The lottery has raised over $4 billion for education programs and scholarships in Tennessee, including for the highly successful HOPE Scholarship Program and the Tennessee Promise community college program. I was proud to work with Mr. Smith on the creation of the Tennessee lottery. As college costs continue to skyrocket and college degrees become more important, it is critical that we do everything we can to keep college affordable for hard-working students and families.”
