Cohen Commemorates the 25th Anniversary of the National Civil Rights Museum

September 28, 2016

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today commemorated the 25th anniversary of the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN on the House floor, and released the following statement:

“Today marks the 25th anniversary of the opening of the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN,” said Congressman Cohen. “The museum is located at the site of the Lorraine Motel where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. The National Civil Rights Museum is the phoenix that arose from the ashes of that tragedy. The museum tells the story of the many, both black and white, who fought for civil rights for all people in this country. I urge everyone who has the opportunity to go to Memphis and tour the National Civil Rights Museum and pay tribute to the civil rights soldiers who strove to make America what it was intended to be: a more perfect union.”
