Cohen Receives Second Highest Score of Any Lawmaker on Flyersrights.org Legislative Scorecard

September 21, 2016

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation, today received the second highest score of any U.S. Representative or Senator on the Flyersrights.org 114th Congress Legislative Scorecard for passenger rights issues. A copy of the scorecard can be found here.

“I am proud to receive the second highest score of any lawmaker on the Flyersrights.org legislative scorecard,” said Congressman Cohen. “Through my work on the House Aviation Subcommittee and on the SEAT Act, I have consistently fought for airline passengers to have a safe and comfortable flight experience. It is unfortunate that the scores were so low on the scorecard. The airline industry has been reaping historic profits, yet they are increasingly reducing the safety, comforts and conveniences of flying.”

Earlier this year, Congressman Cohen introduced the bipartisan Seat Egress in Air Travel (SEAT) Act to direct the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to establish minimum seat size standards for the safety and health of airline passengers.

With more than 40,000 members, FlyersRights.org is the largest non-profit consumer organization in the United States representing airline passengers.
