Congressman Cohen Announces $1.1 Million National Science Foundation Grant to the University of Memphis

Funding for purchase of high-performance computing cluster
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the University of Memphis’ Department of Computer Science will receive a $1,115,997 grant from the National Science Foundation to acquire and operate a high-performance computing cluster across West Tennessee and Arkansas and Mississippi, improving research quality through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“This substantial investment in computing power will improve the quality of research into AI affecting intelligent health, cybersecurity, educational technology, smart transportation and computational biology. I congratulate the University for winning this prestigious National Science Foundation grant award.”
