Congressman Cohen Announces $13.3 Million Head Start Grant to the Shelby County Board of Education

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Shelby County Board of Education will receive a grant of $13,360,628 to operate its Head Start programs. The funding comes from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“Providing young children access to early childhood education benefits our entire community and Head Start is a proven winner. I'm pleased that the Shelby County Board of Education is receiving this funding to help more young children in our community gain equal access to resources they need. All children need early help to prepare for an increasingly complex world.”
