Congressman Cohen Announces $21.3 Million in Department of Health and Human Services Grants

$15.9 million in support for Head Start programs

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) announced that Memphis Health Center Inc., Porter-Leath, and the Shelby County Board of Education will be receiving grants totaling $21,309,797 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Porter-Leath will receive $1,385,603 to operate its Head Start programs and the Board of Education will receive $14,553,699 to operate its Head Start programs. Memphis Health Center will receive $5,370,495 to support its programs.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“I am pleased to see this substantial investment from our federal government, particularly the funding for Head Start, which helps our youngest students prepare for school and to navigate a complex world. This investment will improve lives and make a real difference in our community.”
