Congressman Cohen Announces $25,000 Grant to Memphis Animal Services

ASPCA funds address Covid-19 relief and recovery needs

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a member of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, today announced that Memphis Animal Services will receive a $25,000 grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to address fundraising shortfalls during the coronavirus pandemic. The funding is part of the ASPCA's $5 million Covid-19 Relief and Recovery Initiative.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"This grant will provide for essential lifesaving services, such as safety net, adoption, fostering and veterinary services to vulnerable animals at a time of strained resources. The humane treatment of animals is critical in these trying times. I'm pleased the city's Animal Services program is receiving this funding to meet its ongoing challenges."

Congressman Cohen has received the highest-possible ratings for his voting record on animal welfare issues from both the Humane Society of the United States and The Defenders of Wildlife.
