December 22, 2022

Grant will improve coordination, integration, accessibility and effectiveness of services for children and families in Northwest Memphis

WASHINGTON– Today, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced that Seeding Success’s Shelby County Community Schools Partnership (SCCSP) will receive a $2,796,802 grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Full-Service Community Schools Program. This funding will support the coordination, integration, accessibility, and effectiveness of services for children and families at six full-service community schools in Northwest Memphis.

The Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS) program encourages coordination of academic, social, and health services through partnerships among (1) public elementary and secondary schools; (2) local educational agencies (LEAs); and (3) community-based organizations, nonprofit organizations, and other public or private entities.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“This grant will help coordinate, expand and improve the range of services provided by full-service community schools in Frayser, Northaven and Millington. I recently met with Department of Education officials to relay the importance of this funding, and I am pleased that more children and families in our community will now gain access to the services they need. Providing more children and families with wraparound services is a proven way to improve educational outcomes and change lives. It will benefit our entire community.”
