Airport CEO notes project’s environmental compliance component
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN09), a senior member of the Aviation Subcommittee of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today announced two grants totaling $31,160,550 to Memphis International Airport from the Federal Aviation Administration for ongoing construction of de-icing pads and associated facilities.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"Continued funding of this important project will improve the experience and safety of the flying public transiting Memphis, particularly in wintry conditions. It will also help FedEx continue to deliver on time, absolutely and positively. I'm pleased to see this ongoing funding and look forward to the completion of the project."
Scott A. Brockman, President and CEO of the Memphis International Airport, made the following statement:
"The Consolidated Deice Facility Project will support MEM's airfield operational capacity as well as our environmental compliance as we strive to not only be a good neighbor but remain one of the major economic engines of the Mid-South. We appreciate the support of the FAA in providing this critical funding, which will help ensure the project's success."
