Headquarters and parking garage damaged during 2021 storms

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide $3,355,166 for repairs to damage to the Memphis Light, Gas, and Water (MLGW) Division headquarters building and garage sustained by winter storms in February 2021.

Congressman Cohen requested federal disaster assistance following the storms, in which the severe winter weather and the accumulation of ice and snow caused structural damage to MLGW’s facilities.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“The 2021 winter storms did serious damage to many parts of our region. I am pleased that MLGW’s headquarters and parking garage, which sustained structural damage, will now be restored and even improved to higher design standards.”
