April 8, 2020

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services dispersed $1.3 billion in grants to community health centers authorized by the CARES Act. Three centers in Memphis – Christ Community Health Services ($2,073,815), Memphis Health Center Inc. ($1,038,170) and Tri-State Community Health Center ($559,070) –received funding. Tennessee centers statewide received $256,098,970.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"Memphis' community health centers are on the front lines as the coronavirus pandemic spreads through our region. This funding is especially important and timely as we see growing evidence of the virus disproportionately affecting African Americans. These health centers are providing access to testing and care for those affected by the virus and continue to support our underserved communities."

Congressman Cohen flew to Washington last month to vote for the CARES Act. See his statement on the bill here.
