Congressman Cohen Announces $6.7 Million Grant to Christ Community Health Services

MEMPHIS -- WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that Christ Community Health Services Inc. will be receiving a grant of $6,708,654 from the Department of Health and Human Services for its ongoing work meeting the needs of the medically underserved.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“This substantial grant will help Christ Community Health Services meet the medical care necessities of Memphians most in need. I am pleased to see this funding address the needs of the poor since Tennessee continues to refuse to expand Medicaid. It is important that we support community health centers that provide health care that is lacking because of the inattention of our state government.”

The Health Center Program supports more than 1,300 patient-directed organizations that provide preventative and primary care to medically underserved populations. Christ Community Health Centers have seven locations across Memphis, including Hickory Hill, Orange Mound and Broad Avenue.
