Congressman Cohen Announces $708,000 Grant to St. Jude to Study Sickle Cell Disease

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will receive a grant of $708,579 to study hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction in sickle cell disease from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“Sickle cell disease disproportionately affects African Americans and is a debilitating illness. This important research funding may well yield beneficial therapeutic outcomes. I am pleased our premier children’s research hospital is working on this critical medical problem.”
