Congressman Cohen Announces $799,048 in Homeland Security Preparedness Grants

Memphis and Shelby County get funds to improve port security

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that Memphis and Shelby County will receive grants totaling $799,048 from the Department of Homeland Security to make transportation infrastructure improvements to meet their maritime security and facility security plans. Memphis will receive $283,953 and Shelby County will receive $515,095. 

Congressman Cohen made the following statement: 

“These grants will help enhance security and resiliency at the Port of Memphis and assure that the cargo routed through it, and the people working there, are safe and secure. This funding will help to keep Memphis America’s Distribution Center up to date with the most recent security advancements.”
