Congressman Cohen Announces Department of Justice Grant Addressing Sexual Abuse by Youths

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today announced a $475,000 grant to Memphis and Shelby County to address sexual behavior problems in youth from the Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention.

The grant will help support the coordination of response efforts by stakeholders such as the Memphis Child Advocacy Center, Juvenile Court, the Tennessee Department of Children's Services, the community, the District Attorney's Office, the Public Defender's Office, the TennCare Bureau, and treatment providers, among others, to jointly develop strategies and approaches to assist in identifying solutions and providing recommendations.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"This Department of Justice grant will address a serious problem and, I hope, find long term solutions. I'm pleased to announce this investment in our local youth."
