Congressman Cohen Announces Lung Research Grant to UTHSC

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive a grant of $615,455 to study eosinophils – a type of white blood cell – and antibacterial immunity in the lungs. The funding comes from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“I am always pleased to see one of the National Institutes of Health underwriting medical research at our medical school. The work supported by this grant is sure to result in insights and understandings that will improve patient outcomes and save lives.”
