Congressman Cohen Announces More Than $675,000 in Federal Funding to the Memphis Health Center, Christ Community Health Services and the Tri-State Community Health Center

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded research grants totaling $680,000 to the Memphis Health Center, Christ Community Health Services, Inc. and the Tri-State Community Health Center. All grants are being awarded through the HHS's Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

"Health centers are a fundamental part of providing primary and preventative health care to all Memphians in need," said Congressman Cohen. "I am proud of the invaluable work that Memphis Health Center, Christ Community Health Services and the Tri-State Community Health Center provide throughout Shelby County."

Memphis Health Center received $110,000 and Christ Community Health Services received $285,000 from the Health Center Cluster competing continuation grant program. The Health Center Cluster program is designed to support primary health care services in underserved areas.

Tri-State Community Health Center received $285,000 from the Health Center Program, which helps fund nearly 1,400 health centers operating more than 11,000 sites across the United States.The Health Center Program is authorized in Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act and administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This Fund was established under the Affordable Care Act for the operation, expansion and construction of health centers throughout the nation.
