Congressman Cohen Announces a More Than Half Million Dollar Grant to UTHSC

Funding for eye disease research
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive a grant of $511,066 from the National Eye Institute to study retinal angiogenesis.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“I am pleased to see the National Institutes investing in research at our medical school and addressing an eye disease that can lead to impaired vision. Our medical school students will benefit from this grant funding and patients’ lives will be improved.”
