Congressman Cohen Announces National Science Foundation Grant to the University of Memphis

Funding supports study of seasonal changes in bird metabolism
MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the University of Memphis will receive a grant of $391,858 from the National Science Foundation for a project entitled “Collaborative Research: Costs and Trade-offs of Phenotypically Flexible Responses to Winter Temperature Variability in Birds.” The research is under the direction of College of Health Sciences Assistant Professor Yufeng Zhang.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“The grant funding supporting this research on bird metabolism will advance our knowledge metabolic phenotypes and lead to important technical breakthroughs. I congratulate the University and Professor Zhang on this prestigious grant award.”
