Congressman Cohen Announces National Science Foundation Grant to the University of Memphis

Underwrites study of microplastic pollution in the soil
MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the University of Memphis will receive a $537,625 grant from the National Science Foundation for a project entitled “CAREER: Determining the mechanism and significance of microplastic pollution on soil hydrology.” The work is under the direction of Dr. Farhad Jazaei, an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“Reducing plastic pollution has been one of my priorities in Congress. Research into the impact of plastic pollution on our soils is a smart investment. I commend Dr. Jazaei and the University for receiving this prestigious National Science Foundation grant.”
