Congressman Cohen Announces NIH Grants to UTHSC and St. Jude
Funding of $924,000 supports research in dentistry and cellular signaling
MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced two grants from the National Institutes of Health. One, for $500,500, is for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for a project entitled “Mechanisms of Sonic Hedgehog Signal Transduction” from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The second, for $423,500, is for research on periodontal ligament regeneration, from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“I am pleased to see the NIH investing in our premier research institutions. This support will advance our treatment of periodontal diseases and better our understanding of cell division, and will improve lives, while also keeping our scientists in their labs.”
