Congressman Cohen Announces Research Grant for St. Jude
MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will receive a “High Priority, Short-Term Project” grant of $493,016 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for viral research.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“This high-priority grant will stimulate critical work on viruses during the coronavirus pandemic. It’s my hope that this funding will result in important discoveries at our premiere children’s research center.”
This is the third major research grant awarded to St. Jude this week. On Monday, Congressman Cohen announced a grant of $4,395,266 from the National Cancer Institute to conduct research on pediatric brain tumors. On Wednesday, he announced a grant of $353,256 for research on molecular mechanisms of nucleic acid machines from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.
