U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awards grants to University totaling more than $1.1 million

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that the University of Memphis will be receiving two grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services totaling $1,171,237. One grant, for $897,342, will go to an Opioid Workforce Expansion Program for Paraprofessionals. The other grant, for $273,895, will go to the Graduate Psychology Education Program.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"I am always pleased to announce federal grant funding for the University of Memphis, particularly when it goes toward growing the University's workforce. This funding will allow the University's psychology program to stay strong and prepare Memphians with community-based training. It will also address the opioid crisis by providing additional personnel. This is good for the University of Memphis and for the health of the citizens of the Ninth Congressional District."
