Congressman Cohen Announces Two NIH Grants to UTHSC

Funding supporting molecular and nursing research
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced two National Institutes of Health grants totaling $836,990 to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). The first, for $415,802, is from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for research on “molecular mechanism of Siglec-E in bacterial clearance.” The second, for $421,188, is from the National Institute of Nursing Research, is for “promoting cognitive screening and assessment post-aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage for better equity in outcomes.”
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“I am always pleased to see research dollars invested in the work performed at our medical school. Both these grants will help UTHSC advance knowledge and ultimately improve health outcomes.”
