Congressman Cohen Announces USDA Rural Development Grant to the 9th Congressional District

Funds to hire a Community Development Specialist
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced a $50,000 Department of Agriculture Rural Development grant to the MidSouth Development District, based in Shelby County. This funding will be used by the MidSouth Development District to hire a Community Development Specialist to deliver technical assistance in Tipton County, in addition to Fayette and Lauderdale Counties. The Community Development Specialist will provide support by connecting small business owners to available resources and working with local government to identify business needs in the community. Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“The rural parts of the 9th Congressional District, including parts of Tipton County, are benefitting from substantial investments by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development. This grant will provide needed expertise to farmers and businesses. I am pleased to see this funding directed at my constituents in Tipton County.”
