Congressman Cohen Applauds $6.3 Million Investment in Western Tennessee by the Delta Regional Authority

Includes funding for skills training in Memphis region
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today applauded the announcement by the Clarksdale, Mississippi-based Delta Regional Authority (DRA) that it will invest more than $6.3 million in a variety of projects in West Tennessee, including employment training in welding and coding.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“These investments in West Tennessee will improve lives and result in higher employment in skilled trades. The DRA is focusing on the economic development of our region and its efforts will transform lives.”
The funding announced today includes:
- $635,000 for imaging equipment for an emergency facility in McNairy County;
- $350,000 for the Floor Covering Education Foundation to address a shortage of skilled flooring installers in the Memphis region;
- $375,000 for the Boilermakers and Welding Institute for workforce development in the Memphis region;
- $349,000 to Memphis-based CodeCrew to expand its software engineering program;
- $465,000 to LaunchYourCity to address the needs of small businesses in the Central Busisiness District of Memphis; and
- $509,000 to the Industrial Development Board of the Town of Covington for infrastructure improvements and job creation in Tipton County.
