Congressman Cohen Applauds Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center for its Selection as a Fisher House Venue

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today congratulated the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center for being named one of 12 in the nation selected to establish a Fisher House so that families of Veterans can be close to their loved ones during hospitalization. Congressman Cohen wrote a letter strongly supporting the medical center’s efforts during the evaluation process.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“Nothing is more important for a healing patient than knowing his or her family is nearby and ready to provide help and support. Memphis’ Fisher House will be the kind of invaluable resource our veterans need to recover. I congratulate the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center staff for their dedication and look forward to the grand opening of its Fisher House.”

A Fisher House serves to provide temporary accommodations for the families and caregivers of veterans and will serve as a home away from home while the veteran is receiving care at the Memphis VA Medical Center. The new Fisher House will be located on the main medical center campus at 1030 Jefferson Avenue in Memphis.
