Congressman Cohen Calls on Senate to Pass Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization

House passed the comprehensive bipartisan measure last July
MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), the Ranking Member of the Aviation Subcommittee, today called upon the Senate to swiftly pass a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill when it convenes next week. The House passed its FAA bill, the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, by a 351-69 vote last July.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“Our FAA reauthorization bill protects the safety of the flying public and ensures the future of U.S. aviation. It bolsters aviation safety, enhances and diversifies our aviation workforce, strengthens consumer protections, and advances American leadership in aerospace innovation. Unfortunately, our progress on these improvements remains stalled while the Senate continues to debate key issues. We have had too many near-miss incidents at U.S. airports to delay our work any longer. Extending FAA authorities on a temporary basis is a disservice to the flying public and to the aviation workforce and hampers the effective management of the FAA. It’s all too clear that the safety of flying is on people’s minds these days, and it is long past time for the Senate to act.”
