Congressman Cohen Commemorates Veterans Day

November 11, 2016

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) released the following statement to commemorate Veterans Day:

“Every November, we set aside a special day to honor the brave men and women who have served our country in uniform. On Veterans Day, we gather to remember the sacrifice and courage of the servicemen and servicewomen who have fought to safeguard the many freedoms that Americans hold dear. As we honor our nation’s heroes, we must also redouble our efforts to ensure that we keep our promises to them. I have been working with the Department of Veterans Affairs to ensure Memphis hires the best director possible for the Memphis VA Medical Center. We should do all we can to help Veterans receive the timely, high-quality health care they deserve, as well as find good-paying jobs and provide them with educational support and affordable housing. Keeping our promise to veterans is the best way to thank them and honor their sacrifices. I was pleased President-elect Donald Trump said he would help veterans, and I look forward to working with him on this issue, particularly with VA hospitals.”
