Congressman Cohen Commends MLGW Board on its Vote Rejecting Long-term TVA Contract

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a vocal critic of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), today took note of the Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division board’s vote rejecting a long-term contract with the federal power supplier, and made the following statement:

“I commend the MLGW board for its vote rejecting a long-term contract with TVA which would have limited Memphis’ opportunities to provide lower energy costs to its citizens. The decision allows Memphis to contribute to a sustainable energy future and play a role in combatting climate change.”
