Congressman Cohen Commends St. Jude for Global Initiative

Pleased House Passed Childhood Cancer Survivorship, Treatment, Access and Research Act this week

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) commended St. Jude Children's Research Hospital which today announced a $100 million global initiative to treat childhood cancers around the world. The announcement came just days after the House passed the Childhood Cancer Survivorship, Treatment, Access and Research (STAR) Act. Congressman Cohen has been a long-time supporter of the legislation and is a cosponsor of the House companion measure. The Congressman made the following statement:

"Childhood cancer survivability rates are rising and the House this week helped contribute to future progress with passage of the STAR Act. The announcement from St. Jude today brings further hope to parents of sick children around the world. Dr. James Downing and the leadership and staff of St. Jude are to be commended for this inspiring initiative."
