Congressman Cohen Congratulates President Biden
Praises restoration of competence and Vice President Harris for historic firsts
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today attended the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and made the following statement:
"The United States' standing in the world has been restored with the inauguration as President of my friend Joe Biden. As his first address as President made clear, our country will return to decency, truth, compassion, competence, tolerance, humility, the rule of law, acceptance of facts, and the guidance of science. These ideals are a hopeful start to a much-needed correction from the chaos, cruelty and ‘un-civil war' of the last four years.
"I was honored to witness history today as Vice President Kamala Harris was sworn in as the first woman, the first black and the first Asian person to hold this position.
"I pledge to work with the new President to move our nation forward, and look forward to his and Vice President Harris' inspired leadership."
