Congressman Cohen Denounces Supreme Court Decision in Memphis-Originated Starbucks Case

June 14, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) expressed disappointment following the Supreme Court's ruling in Starbucks v. McKinney. The decision, which could adversely impact workers' rights to organize and advocate for fair treatment, holds significant weight for the Memphis community where the case originated. Congressman Cohen remains committed to supporting working people and advancing policies that safeguard their rights and amplify their voices.

“I was deeply disheartened to read the Supreme Court's decision yesterday regarding Starbucks and the NLRB,” said Congressman Cohen. “It’s a setback for workers’ rights, undermining their ability to organize and fight for fair treatment, and given that the case originated in Memphis the Court’s decision has a particularly foul smell. I will continue to stand with working people and fight for policies that protect and empower them, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.”
