Congressman Cohen Encouraged the HUD OIG is Investigating Peppertree Apartments

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today noted that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of Inspector General (OIG) has announced it is reviewing its own efforts in addressing conditions at the Peppertree Apartments in Memphis after longstanding complaints, and made the following statement:

“Today, I reintroduced the Housing Accountability Act to help HUD assess what tenants deal with every day, spurred in part by my familiarity with complaints and proposed solutions from residents of Peppertree Apartments. I am encouraged that the OIG review will result in improvements locally and in the process HUD uses in evaluating federally subsidized housing in this country.”
