Congressman Cohen Holds Meeting with XPO Logistics

Says new policies are step in the right direction but need monitoring for compliance
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today met in his office with XPO Logistics officials and their consultants to begin review of personnel policies and the company's decision to close its Memphis warehouse, laying off more than 400 employees.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"I'm pleased with the direction XPO Logistics is taking in light of serious allegations about its treatment of pregnant employees. Changes in company policy, guided by former First Lady Michelle Obama's chief of staff and personnel consultant Christina Tchen, are encouraging, but I will continue to monitor implementation of those polices and compliance with applicable labor law. It is also reassuring to learn that XPO has guaranteed jobs for all of its hourly employees affected by the closure of the Memphis warehouse. It is important that this guarantee be upheld, and I look forward to receiving an update on the placement of all of these Memphians."
