Congressman Cohen Holds Successful Telephone Town Hall

More than 4,400 constituents participate in opportunity to share their ideas and concerns directly with the Congressman
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) held a Telephone Town Hall from his Washington office tonight, reaching more than four thousand constituents and responding to their questions and comments.
Among the issues discussed were Congressman Cohen's ongoing effort to deal with crime and the health care needs of Memphians, especially his retired constituents, senior citizens, the disabled and veterans. He discussed his Washington and Memphis offices' availability to assist with citizens' questions about Medicare, TennCare-Medicaid issues, Veterans benefits, passport issues, the Internal Revenue Service and other federal agencies.
On tonight's call, the Congressman was also asked to address the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, grocery stores and food deserts, VA medical care, cost of living adjustments for Social Security, protecting the social safety net and protecting democracy, resisting President Trump's worst impulses, and protecting Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
"It's always my pleasure to hear directly from my constituents, who are invariably a font of good ideas about public policy and the direction our country needs to take," Congressman Cohen said. "I appreciate everyone who took the time to be on the call and to show their dedication to helping me make our 9th Congressional District a better place."
Congressman Cohen regularly holds Telephone Town Halls. He and his Memphis office also hold monthly "Congress on Your Corner" events around the district. The next "Congress on Your Corner" will be held on Friday, April 20, at the Whitehaven Library, 4120 Millbranch Road, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
