Congressman Cohen Holds Town Hall Meeting with Concerned Constituents

More than 7,800 called in to discuss Trump’s illegal actions, role of Elon Musk
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) tonight held a telephone town hall meeting to discuss issues on the minds of his constituents as the second month of the tumultuous second Trump term got under way with slashes in federal jobs and programs and harm to the reputation of the United States in the world.
More than 7,800 callers participated in the one-hour event with Congressman Cohen’s and his special guest Nikki McKinney, the senior advisor for policy and public affairs for Democracy Forward, an organization challenging Trump-Musk actions in court.
Questions ranged from concern over job losses by a certified nurse assistant at the Lt. Col. Luke Weathers VA Medical Center, concerns about homelessness, federal health programs like Social Security and Medicare, and nutrition assistance, and Trump’s reversal of U.S. policy on Ukraine.
Congressman Cohen closed the event by saying he will always fight for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and SNAP benefits, and that throughout his political career, “I have never given up and will always speak truth to power.”
