Congressman Cohen Hosts More Than 7,000 Constituents during Telephone Town Hall this Morning
[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) this morning hosted a telephone town hall to answer his constituents’ questions about the issues facing Tennessee’s Ninth Congressional District and the nation. During the telephone town hall meeting, the Congressman discussed a wide variety of issues including the 2016 omnibus federal funding bill; the federal highway funding bill to improve our roads, bridges, and mass transit; efforts in Congress to reform our criminal justice system; and assisting constituents with navigating federal agencies.
“These town hall meetings are a great way for me to hear directly from Memphians and all citizens of the Ninth District about what’s important to them,” said Congressman Cohen. “I appreciated having this opportunity to listen to the Ninth District’s perspective on the issues from transportation to criminal justice reform as well as other issues facing our community. I also enjoyed discussing my work and legislation with more than 7,000 Memphians. Hearing the opinions and ideas of my constituents helps me best represent the Ninth District in Congress.”
The Telephone Town Hall meeting began at 11AM CT and lasted roughly one hour. Since being elected to the House of Representatives in 2006, Congressman Cohen has hosted dozens of town hall meetings in his Congressional district and via telephone from Washington, D.C.
