Receives an unusual third full committee assignment

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) has been named to the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology Committee on the recommendation of the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. This will be Congressman Cohen's third full committee assignment for the 116th Congress. Congressman Cohen also serves as a senior member of both the House Judiciary Committee (as well as chairman of its Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties) and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"The Science Committee will have a pivotal role on critical issues such as climate change, the space program and clean energy, areas where major policy debates and decisions can be expected in the years to come. I am honored to be appointed to the Committee and grateful for the confidence my colleagues have shown in giving me a third full committee assignment. I look forward to the challenges ahead."
