Congressman Cohen Named to Natural Resources Committee
MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) was pleased to announce today that he has been named to the House Natural Resources Committee which has jurisdiction over the nation’s energy and mineral resources; national parks, public lands and wildlife refuges; wildlife conservation, clean water and outdoor recreation. One of Congress’ oldest committees, it can trace its jurisdiction to the Public Lands Committee created in 1805.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“I am pleased to be named to the Natural Resources Committee, which gives me an opportunity to be engaged in our country’s critical debates addressing the existential threat of climate change. I’ll also be involved in the committee’s work to protect our national parks and public lands. I look forward to working with Chairman Grijalva and other members in addressing these critical issues.”
Congressman Cohen is also a senior member of the Judiciary Committee and is Chairman of its Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties. He is also a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and its Subcommittees on Aviation, Highways and Transit, and Water Resources and the Environment.
