Congressman Cohen Named Ranking Member of T&I Aviation Subcommittee

Will continue serving as senior Democrat on Judiciary Committee
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), recently sworn in to a ninth term, today was named the Ranking Member, or the top member of the minority Democratic Party, on the Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee’s Aviation Subcommittee, where he will oversee policy on airports, air cargo, commercial airline service and passenger safety. The Subcommittee will be occupied through much of the year with the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act, setting aviation policy for the next five years.
Congressman Cohen will continue to serve as a senior member on the Judiciary Committee and its newly renamed Subcommittees on the Constitution and Limited Government and Crime and Government Surveillance. He will also serve on the Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform and Antitrust. Congressman Cohen will also serve on T&I’s Highways and Transit Subcommittee and its Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee.

In these senior roles, I will be in a position to set the agenda and shape policy in the areas of both transportation and federal legal rights and protections. I appreciate the confidence my colleagues in Leadership have shown in putting me in these positions and will work diligently to advance the best interests of our nation.”
Congressman Cohen has been a senior member of both the T&I and Judiciary Committees in previous Congresses and served as Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties in the 117th Congress when Democrats held the majority. He has also previously served on the Natural Resources Committee and on the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
