Congressman Cohen Reappointed to the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe
As Ranking Member of the Helsinki Commission, he also serves as a Special Representative on Political Prisoners
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) has been reappointed to the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe and will serve as its Ranking Member. Congressman Cohen continues to serve as the Special Representative on Political Prisoners after receiving that appointment from the President of the Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA).
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
“I’m proud to represent the United States in these critical diplomatic and policy-directing positions. Monitoring and doing our best to protect human rights have sadly become an essential function of the Commission and the OSCE PA as tyranny increases in places such as Russia and Belarus, and war rages in Ukraine.”
